An Overview:
The Three Jamawat Mountains in Madinah carry a story associated with the sayings of the Prophet (ﷺ). Jamma Tadharu’ is one of the most famous mountains of Madinah, and is associated with the blessed Aqiq Valley with the palaces and orchards on its edges. The Mount is also famous for the Islamic inscriptions found in it.
Its Story:
The mountain is associated with the blessed al-Aqiq Valley. It is mentioned in some hadiths. It is also associated with the first Islamic era, and is a live witness of some of the palaces of the descendants of the companions. Besides, it contains several inscriptions from the early Islamic centuries.
The mountain is also known to the earlier Arabs, and was mentioned in some of their poems.
Its Significance:
The Mount of Jamma Tadharu’ is associated with some historical monuments, most notably the palaces erected on it, such as the palace of Saeed ibn Al-Aas, as well as the palace and dam of Asim bin Amr bin Omar bin Othman bin Affan. The mountain also contains a number of Islamic inscriptions from the first centuries. It is considered the biggest of all Jammawat and the closest to the Prophet’s Mosque.
Its Description:
It is a big mount with a flat summit, formed of black stones. It is easily accessible.
Its Location:
It is located in the southwest of Madinah, to the right of the road leading to the wells of Dhu Al-Hulaifa, and to the west of Wadi Al-Aqiq. It is less than 4 km away from the Prophet’s Mosque, and it is the closest Jamma to the Prophet’s Mosque. It can be reached via Omar bin Al-Khattab Road.
