The outer courtyards of the Prophet’s Mosque are perfectly designed as places for prayer and sitting. They are covered with canopies that open and close automatically, and are equipped with public facilities that are friendly to all visitors, including the elderly and people with special needs.

The Largest Expansion of the Courtyards:

The Prophet's Mosque witnessed one of the largest expansions during the reign of King Fahd, in which the total area of the courtyards increased to 235,000 square meters. The courtyards are covered with marble and granite, and are designed as prayer grounds. They can accommodate up to 450,000 worshippers.
