Jamma Um Khaled

An Overview:

It is an important historical landmark because it contains ancient historical monuments. It is located opposite Jamma Al-Aqir, and both Jammas are separated by a spacious land through which the armies of Quraysh marched to fight the Prophet (ﷺ) in the Battles of Uhud and Al-Ahzab. The name of the mount is taken from its flat peak, which is like (Jamma) or hornless sheep.

Its Story:

This mountain is one of three contiguous mountains, two of which are connected: Jama Tadharu', and Jama Um Khaled. The last one is separate: Jama Al-Aqir. At the basis of this mountain, there are important historical monuments, such as the palace of Yazid bin Abd Al-Malik bin al-Mughirah Al-Nawfali.

Its Significance:

This mountain is historically important because it contains traces of ancient palaces. In addition, historians have also mentioned other important features such as historical inscriptions on some graves.

Its Location:

The Mount of Jamma Um Khaled is located in the southwest of Madinah to the west of Jamma Tadharu’. It can be reached via As-Salam Road from the northern side, or Prince Nayef ibn Abdulaziz Road from the west.
